Lapland in the winter is one of the most magical things you can experience in this world. The sun may not come up at all, but the snow, the moon and the stars, and - if you get lucky - the northern lights, are enough. It's a strange feeling, when the daylight never shows up. Everything slows down. You start paying attention to different things, things you can't see when it's bright.
This painting features the mountains in Swedish Lapland. This was the view from our cabin, that was located on a hill. It was midday, but it looked kind of gloomy outside. The snow was the brightest thing you could see. I wanted to capture the stagnant, but calm atmosphere of the moment.
